How can we help you?

Trading Possibilities

Why certain products are not available in DEGIRO Ireland?

Answer

The PRIIPs (Packaged Retail Investment and Insurance Products) regulation have a significant impact on your ability to trade in products like ETFs and investment funds. Here you will find the answers to some frequently asked questions on this topic.

Unfortunately, simply having a KID (Key Information Document) in a language you understand is not enough to allow us to offer the ETF or investment fund. Each product must be officially authorised to be offered in your country (known as ‘passporting’) and have a KID available in your local language.

Therefore, it may be the case that there is a KID available in your local language for a particular product, but that this product has not yet been passported to your country. It is up to the issuer of that product to make sure that all this documentation is in order.

Of course, we cannot speak for other brokers. How they interpret the rules is up to them. However, for us, the regulations are unambiguous, and we adhere to them as closely as possible.

We are in contact with various issuers of these products. Eventually, they determine whether they want to enter a specific country to distribute their products there. If they want to do so, they are responsible for retrieving the required approvals from the financial regulators involved and creating the appropriate documentation. Once they have provided this, we strive to be amongst the first to know.

The current PRIIPs (Packaged Retail Investment and Insurance Products) legislation is quite strict regarding the KID and states that a KID must be available in the local language of the respective country. So, we can generally not offer an ETF or investment fund to you if there is no KID in your local language available.

You will still be able to hold or close any positions you currently have. The regulation only impacts your ability to increase current and/or open new positions.
