Answer
To ensure you have a flawless trading experience when investing in products listed in foreign currencies, we offer two currency conversion options: Auto FX or Manual FX. Since it is not possible to deposit or withdraw funds in any currency other than the base currency of your account, these conversion options allow you to easily trade in different currencies and get the most out of your investment opportunities.
Please note - The fees for Auto FX and Manual FX differ. Please see our Fee schedule for more information.
- You can always check or edit your currency exchange settings by going to 'Settings' > 'Currency Handling'.
- When you switch from Manual FX to Auto FX or vice versa, outstanding orders are not affected.
- If you trade on margin, be aware that this also applies to your foreign currency Cash Account(s). Therefore, it is possible to spend more in foreign currency than you could have, leading to a negative balance in your foreign currency Cash Account. Debit rates apply.
- When Auto FX is enabled, an executed order for a currency pair (for example: EUR/USD) is automatically converted back to EUR. If you want to buy or sell currency pairs, check your settings to see if Manual is enabled.
- Any balances you hold in a foreign currency Cash Account or investments you make in a product listed in a foreign currency are exposed to currency risk. Learn more about Cash Accounts here.
- Please note that by changing the setting from Manual FX to Auto FX the foreign currency balance will be converted back to the base currency.
